This project connects an exercise bike up to the pc to then lets you maneuver around google maps in street view.

Yes i know you can't beat being out doing it for real, but its just for fun and makes an dull exercise bike a bit more interesting

Here we show the parts needed to attach the controller to the bike.

Magnetic Alarm Switch
Magnet
USB Controller
2 core wire. (I used alarm wire)

This picture shows the magnet attached to the pedal. I have used a larger magnet that you would normally get with the switch to make sure it is detected as the pedal passes the magnetic switch.

With each rotation of the pedal, the switch is activated and sends a signal to the controller. This is then picked up by the software and converts this to a keyup keyboard press.

Here you can see the controller with the 2 core alarm cable attached to the up key button.

You can also use the left and right buttons to maneuver around the streets. This basically sends the left and right arrow keys to the pc.
