Softmod:
The best place to find this software is via bit torrent. Just type 'Softmod.Installer.Deluxe.v5.01.Xbox-Hq (torrent)' into google. This should bring back some good search results.

Do the same again but search for 'XBMC-9.04-BABYLON-FINAL-T3CH'

Copy software to action replay
I chose to use splinter cell to softmod my xbox, but you can also use 007 or MechAssault.
So once you have downloaded the software you will need to transfer in my case the following files to the action replay memory cartridge:
SID5.Installer.zip (Linux Installer)
SID5.Loader.SplinterCell.PAL.zip

Install software to xbox
Fire up the xbox and keep the drive bay empty. In the Memory Area locate the Linux Installer saved game, select and copy the game to the Xbox.
Then do the same again with the file 'SID.Splinter.Cell.v2.0.Xbox-Hq.zip'
Now turn the xbox off and put in splinter cell, turn back on and load the Linux profile. After a few seconds, Your Xbox will display an UnleashX intro screen and control panel. This is the Linux-based Xbox dashboard

First thing to do to be safe is create a Create MS Backup.
Now go ahead and Install the Softmod. This will replace the standard Microsoft dashboard with UnleashX permanently. Once complete, restart your Xbox

Install XBMC
Plug your Xbox into your network router. Then navigate the UnleashX menus and using the green A button select: System > Settings > Network.
In this menu make sure ‘Enable’ is set to ‘Yes’, ‘Type’ set to ‘DHCP’ and the ‘FTP Server’ is set also to ‘Yes’. You will need to make sure the ip address fits with your net work.
From the pc start up your favourite ftp client and copy the contents of the XBMC-9.04-BABYLON-FINAL-T3CH folder to the Xbox’s /E/Apps/
